February begins our POSE OF THE MONTH series. YES! Excitement (hands clapping uncontrollably) because to kick this off February's pose is Vrikshasana - lovingly known as Tree Pose.
Many benefits include:
Strengthening the spine, the knees, ligaments & tendons... while the hips become loosened, this pose also relieves sciatica.
I invite you to get started at home one leg after the other, remembering the highlighted areas for attention - I want you to especially make sure to keep the hips level and even. AND watch the knee on the bent leg... it always wants to go in towards your center line - do not let it - work hard to keep the inner thighs active and keep encouraging that knee opening outward.
Beginners you are allowed to keep your foot resting just above the ankle and increase it's height over time - Get to know Vrikshasana, have fun with it at home and we will step it up during class - for the entire month of February we will be holding this pose starting at 3mins on each leg and increasing towards Month's end ... why? Because it is our pose of the month so let the loving begin!
It's special and it's not easy => and that's why it deserves YOU :o).
I don't mind when you pause, it's more important that you begin ans each time you can build towards that 3mins. I believe in you, let's get to it!
